21CSI Wins SBIR SMIRF Contract from Navy
Posted on January 4th 2010
21st Century Systems, Inc. (21CS) has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract by the U.S. Navy to support the development of its proposed Smart Multimodal Image Registration and Fusion (SMIRF) technology.

Today's submarines have a variety of cameras in their periscopes that can search despite poor conditions on the ocean's surface. SMIRF lets submarine commanders focus on seeing what's in their vicinity instead of which settings to use to observe it.

SMIRF will automatically choose the best cameras and settings, identify and enhance obvious features in the scene, and track them through the modes to provide actionable information for the commander. SMIRF uses 21CSI's proprietary VisionAgent® technology and intelligent agents to allow it to choose the right tools for each situation, thus reducing operator time and effort.

This is 21CSI's 63rd Phase I SBIR award. 21CSI has a 100th percentile DoD SBIR commercialization rating.
